Spotlight On….

On these pages I will try to highlight actors who I have seen who have particularly impressed.  These views are my own and I am not affiliated with any individual, but hopefully they will add a little insight into who I believe you should keep a look out for.

1st up:  Simon Morgan-Thomas.

Simon is from Fishguard on the west Welsh coast but has spent his acting career across the whole UK.  He graduated in drama from Cardiff’s ATRiuM and performed as an actor at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

He is both an accomplished actor and musician, recently touring as Buddy in DrumChasers, a fantasy story set to dynamic rhythms and narrated by Stephen Fry (see http://www.whatsonnortheast.com/blog/andybramfitt/2011/10/drumchasers-a-new-masterpiece/ for a review).  His other works include starring roles in Fiddler on the Roof, A Comedy of Errors, a series of short films and numerous regional stage productions which allow him to explore his great range of verbal & visual depictions.

Simon is currently starring in an independant production in Cardiff – check out his showreel here

The next few years should prove to be very exciting for Simon and, with his previous productions all showing quality & depth, I would definately recommend catching any show with him in the cast.

Next

Felicity Chilver

Felicity is another actor who is both accomplished as an actor and musician, with credits for piano, drums & double bass.  Starting in classic pantomimes including Dick Whittington, Cinderella & Aladdin, Felicity has since toured in Singing in the Rain and as the narrator in Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour DreamCoat.

Presently, she is starring in Buddy (http://www.whatsonnortheast.com/blog/andybramfitt/2011/10/buddy-returns-the-buddy-holly-story-at-darlington-civic/) as Maria Elena, Buddy Holly’s wife, through the UK Tour.

Definately an actress I will look out for in future productions.
