Lovers of literature and gastronomy alike will converge on Durham this weekend for a books and food extravaganza.
The 21st Durham Book Festival and inaugural Durham Food Festival both run until this Sunday (23 October).
The Durham City Food Festival has a range of attractions to enjoy, including:
- Live demonstrations from local and celebrity chefs
- Gourmet food marquee
- Farmers’ market
- Continental market
And there’s still a plenty of literary events to enjoy as the Durham Book Festival heads into its final weekend, without taking its foot off the gas. Some highlights include:
- Wire in the Blood crime writer Val McDermid
- Former Chancellor Alistair Darling
- Outspoken Labour ‘outsiders’ Chris Mullin and Bob Marshall-Andrews
- Curator Lucy Worsley, presenter of recent BBC4 series Elegance and Decadence: The Age of the Regency
Most Book Festival events are held at the intimate Gala Theatre or the magnificently grand Durham Town Hall – well worth a look if you’ve never crossed its threshold.
See you there!
