Win a pair of tickets to see Alf Ramsey Knew My Grandfather

Alf Ramsey Knew My Grandfather
by Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood

Tuesday 24 – Friday 27 July, Darlington Civic Theatre

The greatest true-life football story ever told.

In 1909 a team of raggy-trousered miners from West Auckland - most of whom had never left their home town - are mistakenly invited to represent England in the first-ever world football competition in Turin.
Selling their possessions to pay for the trip they find themselves away from their home and families and out of their depth, culturally, financially and sportingly. Despite this the underdogs roll up their sleeves and take on the world.

They went to Italy as miners and came back heroes.

From the writers of the national and international hits Dirty Dusting, Waiting For Gateaux and Maggie's End, Alf Ramsey Knew My Grandfather was first commissioned and produced by the Gala Theatre, Durham to commemorate the 100th anniversary of West Auckland FC's historic World Cup win.

All profits from this production will go to the Darlington FC.
