Celebrate this year’s Heritage Open Days, organised by English Heritage, with free events across the Durham UNESCO World Heritage Site including access to special places usually closed to members of the public.

Thursday 7 September, Saturday 9 September & Sunday 10 September, 2.00pm, World Heritage Site

Enjoy a free tour of the Durham UNESCO World Heritage Site with an experienced guide.

Saturday 9 September, 10.00am – 4.00pm
Allotment Garden, South Bailey

The allotment garden on the South Bailey, where the Cathedral grows flowers for display and cultivates plants for the Cathedral grounds, will be open to the public. The Cathedral gardeners will be on hand to answer questions.

A free event – no need to book.

Saturday 9 September, 10.00am – 4.00pm
The Deanery

A unique opportunity to see the rare medieval wall paintings which decorate the hallway of the Deanery at Durham Cathedral.
