Following your arrival into Newcastle city centre you can take the AD122 bus to the heart of Hadrian’s Wall Country. Many of the towns located on the Wall boast award-winning B&Bs and converted farmhouses that offer ideal accommodation for those looking to fully explore Hadrian’s Wall.

Hadrian's Wall Country offers a refreshing taste of British rural life and towns such as Corbridge, Hexham and Haydon Bridge boast many fine country pubs where you can soak up the area's culture and traditions.

Many of the local towns and villages are passionate about local produce and you will find numerous restaurants, bistros and tearooms that offer the best of British cuisine. A trip to one of the many farmers' markets is also a popular choice for visitors to Hadrian's Wall Country.

You may wish to visit attractions such as Chesters Roman Fort or the recently refurbished Roman Vindolanda. Renowned as one of Europe's most important archaeological sites, Roman Vindolanda offers the opportunity for visitors to explore Roman life on the edge of the Empire.

The east side of Hadrian's Wall Country offers a range of milecastles and Roman ruins that are just waiting to be explored. You may wish to visit areas such as Heddon-On-The-Wall or Corbridge Roman Town to see the remains of the Wall in all of their glory. Many people will also opt to join a professional tour to gain further knowledge of old-age England and discover some of the area's less known attractions.

In addition to the main Hadrian's Wall sites there are a range of English Heritage and National Trust attractions nearby, including Prudhoe Castle and Aydon Castle - all of which can be explored at your leisure.

Should you wish to explore the Wall on foot then a trek along the circular walk to the north of the Wall is definitely recommended; this will allow you to enjoy stunning views of the Barbarian side of Hadrian's Wall and acres of unspoilt landscape.

In addition to the sites in rural Hadrian's Wall Country you may wish to visit the cultural city of Newcastle upon Tyne. The famous Great North Museum is located in the heart of the City and close to many of Newcastle's main attractions. A short train or bus journey will also take you to the popular Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths and Museum and Arbeia Roman Fort and Museum.
