Riverview is also a private dining room that can host up to 22 people, overlooking the Tyne, it is a perfect place for an intimate birthday dinner, corporate lunch or private function.

Access for Wheelchair and the Mobility-Impaired:
All public areas in The Customs House are accessible, including a stair lift to the first and second floor foyers.

Access for the Hearing-Impaired:
Discreet Infra-Red head sets are avialable at the Box Office for hearing impaired people in Theatre 1 and a loop system operates in Theatre 2.

Directions

By Public Transport
Metro - Take the Metro to South Shields. Leave the Metro Station and turn left into King Street. Follow signs to the Market Place exiting at the top left hand corner. Keep the small walk-through park on your left and cross the road at the top. You will see The Customs House to your left. The last Metro from South Shields to Newcastle City Centre is at 11.58pm.
Bus - Services from Sunderland, Cleadon, Whitburn, Jarrow, Gateshead and Newcastle all terminate in the Market Place. From there, follow the directions above.
Ferry - From North Shields, the Ferry crosses to South Shields. Leave the Ferry Landing and turn right walking 300 yards along the riverside path. You will see The Customs House ahead. We will refund a single ferry fare on the day of the performance for each event ticket purchased.
Rail - From Newcastle Central Station, take the Metro to South Shields Metro station, and follow the instructions for Metro as above. Air From Newcastle Airport, you can either take the Metro, or take a Taxi to South Shields.
By Road
From North of the Tyne - Travel through the Tyne Tunnel then take the A185 signposted to South Shields, and follow the signs to the Town Centre by joining the A194. Continue straight across numerous roundabouts until you pass a garage on your right. Turn right at the next roundabout signposted Town Centre. Keep following the signs for Town Centre until the Crossgate roundabout with Lord Clyde Pub on your left hand side.  Go straight ahead onto the B1303 Station Road until you reach the next roundabout. Take the second exit signposted The Customs House and drive to car park.
From Sunderland, Durham, Teesside & The South - Travel along the A19 until the traffic-light controlled roundabout at the junction with the A184.  Go straight across following signs to Tyne Tunnel.  After the roundabout take the second exit slip around and turn right onto the A194 signed to the Town Centre then follow the instructions as above.
From Newcastle, Gateshead & The West - From the Tyne Bridge go South along the Felling by-pass (A184) straight across at the Heworth Metro roundabout and follow the road until the exit slip for the A194/A194M.  Turn left onto the A194 and continue straight along this road, following the signs for South Shields then Town Centre as per the instructions above.
