Set against the backdrop of the Gordon Riots of 1780, this is absolutely a play for today. A story of mystery and suspense which begins with an unsolved double murder, goes on to involve conspiracy, blackmail, abduction and retribution, and features Grip, a talking pet raven. Through the course of the play fathers and sons become opposed, apprentices plot against their masters and there are violent clashes on the streets. And, as London erupts into riot, Barnaby Rudge struggles to escape the curse of his own past. With its high drama, strange secrets and ghostly doublings.
