Just outside the Castle walls, in Bishop Auckland Market Place, volunteers from Auckland Castle Trust will be hosting a number of past, present and future tours, outlining the history of some of the town’s most beautiful buildings and an insight into how many are now being transformed as part of the Trust’s multi-million pound revitalisation scheme.

This includes the former Old Bank Chambers, soon to re-open as a mining art gallery, the old Backhouse Bank and Barrington School buildings, which are being combined to create a Spanish art gallery launching in 2019 and Number 10 Market Place, which will house the Zurbarán Research Centre for Spanish and Latin American Art and Culture, created in partnership with Durham University.

Every Thursday 12.30-1.30pm, Friday 2pm-3pm Saturday 11am-12pm
Free drop-in. Tours leave from 42 Market Place.
