An ancient olive tree on a family-owned grove is at the centre of this family drama, beautifully written by Paul Laverty (I, Daniel Blake) and expertly directed by Iciar Bollain (Even the Rain). Feisty teenage granddaughter Alma is determined to mend her grandfather’s broken heart after the family’s 1000 year-old olive tree has been sold and shipped off to Germany, leaving a hole in the ground which has uprooted a way of life and a family’s tradition. A road trip of risky adventure ensues when Ana goes on a mission with her unsuspecting uncle and a besotted family friend in tow.
