For Ballet fans, the Classical Ballet & Opera House are presenting The Nutcracker –featuring a live Orchestra with over 30 musicians. Snow flurries, sweets, princes, magic and love are just some of the elements that will be brought together in this Christmas classic. Full of familiar music such as the Waltz of the Flowers and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, this seasonal favourite is the perfect treat for a night with friends or family. One of the show’s soloists, Ekaterina Floria from Mariupol, Ukraine, comments about her performance: “When dancing I completely try not to think much as it helps me relax and fall into the role, I am dancing so that the audience get to experience the true character of the role.” It’s a festive highlight in our calendar and one not to be missed!

If making and DIY is more your thing, then you may be interested in Queen of Crafting, Dragon and Strictly star Sara Davies who is heading to Newcastle to give you tricks and tips to help make your Christmas magically crafty this year. Craft Your Christmas with Sara Davies is the perfect warm up for the festive break, with plenty of practical demonstrations, creative ideas and a healthy slice of Sara’s down-to-earth know-how.

Another household name joining audiences at the theatre this festive season is Rick Wakeman CBE and his Grumpy Stocking Tour. Performing on a grand piano and electric keyboards, he always manages to bring a new Yuletide twist to his unique musical arrangements for songs from his own career and others, as well as delivering a few surprises, all punctuated by his hilarious stories. Christmas 2022 will be no different – a not-to-be-missed celebration! Meet and greet tickets are also now available, for an even more special night.

And finally, the ultimate way to celebrate Christmas at the Theatre with your family is with a trip to the panto!  A tale as old as time… Enchanted Entertainment return to the Tyne Theatre & Opera House in 2022 with another spellbinding Pantomime; Beauty and the Beast! It has a stellar cast – North-East comic Charlie Richmond and Karen The Mam’s Lewis Denny play alongside the Sugababes’ Amelle Berrabah, Union J’s JJ Hamblett and rising Newcastle talent Beth Clarke who is playing Belle. Tickets are selling fast so book soon to secure your seat to join in the fun this festive season.

Theatre Director Jo Johnson said: “We’re excited to see our venue transform over the festive season and provide a place for friends and families to make Christmas memories together. We have some stellar shows programmed in alongside our annual Panto and we’re sure there’s something for everyone this Christmas at Tyne Theatre and Opera House.”
