Artist Stephen Livingstone and film maker Cat Hardwick have been working with traditional wooden boat builders at the North East Maritime Trust (NEMT), examining how templates are used to design, form and reproduce a boat. They have used NEMT’s collection of boat templates to make a site-specific piece for the Trust’s boatyard and a dramatic life-size installation in the gallery. The show includes sea charcoal drawings and prints as well as a video installation of the making processes.
