The Stables Gallery programme will feature two curated gallery exhibitions:
June 30 & July 1, 7/8: A solo exhibition showcasing Chinese artist and master craftsman Qi Yafeng. will include new sculpture, photography and video commission giving an insight into his studio practice in South China plus an installation of his extraordinary large scale stainless steel sculptures.
Aug 25/26/27 & Sept 1/2 : A major solo exhibition of sculptures by award-winning artist Joseph Hillier. Hillier has developed a unique piece of work through a collaboration with Northumbrian dancer, Lizzie J. Klotz. Through a fusion of ancient bronze casting and digital 3D motion capture technology Hillier has captured the movements and gestures of the dance in mid-performance. This unique commission, especially for Great Northumberland 2018 investigates the possibilities of interpretation when describing the motion and expression of the human body. By capturing 3D images of the dancer in motion, Hillier has been able to create an exhibition of movement using ancient bronze casting techniques, expertly marrying traditional techniques and modern technology to create.
Part of Great Northumberland 2018.
