Creative Baby! is for babies from newborn to 12 months, with activities designed especially for babies who are not yet walking.

With each session themed around our exhibitions, this is a great way to introduce your baby to art galleries!

Join us to explore colour, texture, pattern and more, in hands-on and exciting ways.

Each session will begin with an informal spotlight tour to introduce babies and their grown-ups to the artwork. Then we’ll explore a sensory play space themed around the artwork. Each session offers lots of exciting opportunities for playing, learning and enjoying the gallery together. Photos of previous sessions can be seen here.

We have step-free access and baby changing facilities and you could make a day of it with a trip to Saltwell Park or Gateshead Library and cafe, which are right next to us.

Here’s what parents say about Creative Baby!:

‘This is undoubtedly the best baby session I’ve been to and I’ve been to a lot. Really lovely space; staff are great; and the added bonus of a bit of culture viewing the art.’

‘Fab! The sensory area is the best we’ve been to!’

‘The play area is fantastic and there is lots going on. My baby was never bored.’

‘The gallery’s very family friendly, and the babies really do notice the artwork – it’s amazing!’
