All bookings include a specific time to travel on the train pulled by a Thomas & Friends character engine. If you do not book in advance there may not be tickets available on the day of the event.

Experience a ride on a train pulled by a real steam engine

Shake hands and have your photo taken with The Fat Controller

Take part in Thomas themed activities in the Imagination Station

The entrance price includes all the above and much more including:

One, 3 and ½ mile train journey in 1950’s heritage railway carriages pulled by a Thomas & Friends character engine

Thomas the Tank Engine will be at the museum all day

Join in sessions with Thomas and his friends

Gift shop selling Thomas the Tank Engine merchandise

Café serving hot and cold snacks and refreshments to purchase

Buggy Park, buggies and strollers are not permitted on the train ride

Stephenson Railway Museum, is a heritage railway in an urban setting – read more about our railway.

The train journey from the museum is a 1.75 mile linear journey (3 and 1/2 mile return) and will last around 25 – 30 minutes.

Stephenson Railway Museum has a free car park with 80 spaces. If you would like a space in the car park you must book this at the time of purchasing your tickets. Additional on street car parking is available a short walk from the museum.

For visitors who wish to bring their own refreshments there is a picnic area and you are welcome to bring along rugs and folding chairs.

As a lot of the activities are outside please ensure you dress appropriately for the weather conditions forecast on the day of your visit.

Visitors who have special access requirements are advised to contact Stephenson Railway Museum in advance of purchasing tickets to ensure that we are able to accommodate any special requirements.

Dogs, with the exception of assistance dogs are not permitted at this event.
