18 May 2018 - 30 June 2018

The work is based on the landscape of rural Northumberland, the lowering grey skies and the clumps of dark trees on distant slopes.

The traces of history in the ancient landscape around Hadrian’s Wall has inspired many of the images.

Inspiration has also been taken from the intricate knotwork and interlacing found in the Lindisfarne Gospels.

The works are large contemporary watercolours using a wide range of experimental techniques.

*** This exhibition is upstairs in the Granary, the space is occasionally unavailable for public viewing, if you are making a special trip please check by calling 0191 561 3455 or e-mail acw@sunderland.gov.uk***
