Six long-distance walks are being established across the North East, reviving ancient pilgrimage routes and portraying the stories of the region’s Saints.

In this special talk, David Pott, Pilgrimage Routes Coordinator for the Northern Saints Trails, will lay out the new coastal and countryside courses, four leading to Durham and two providing links on to Lindisfarne.

He will highlight key landmarks and sights along the way and discuss the revival of pilgrimages for those of faith and of none.

The Northern Saints Trails run from Heavenfield, Jarrow, Hartlepool, Gainford and Seaton Sluice. They officially launch in March, and have been created by regional partners led by Visit County Durham in conjunction with Durham’s Year of Pilgrimage 2020.
