Following their huge success with ‘Personnalités’, Harlekin Studio Opera bring their sparkling evening of classic opera to Newcastle’s medieval Castle Keep on Friday 9th August.
Soak up the atmosphere and history of this amazing building, while you recline and listen to the sublime (and sometimes ridiculous!) music of Bellini, Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Duparc and more…
Harlekin Studio Opera promises an experience like no other for both performers and observers. Featuring a chorus of rising stars, and providing opportunities for them to gain experience in performance in a relaxed and supportive environment, this quirky cohort of opera explorers will dazzle and charm and leave you begging for more!
‘We have an exciting mix of singers of all abilities, who are thrilled to have the chance to bring Opera to an exciting new venue, and new audiences. The castle will be dressed for festival season, with picnic blankets and camping accoutrement and will offer the perfect location for this bold and dynamic performance.’ – Robert Hardiment (Artistic Director)
Harlekin Studio Opera work closely with Architect, Ian Murray as Visual Arts Consultant and are exploring ways to bring the space to life like never before with a bespoke art installation for the occasion. Costumes from local designer David Gibson will also be on display before during and after the performance so that audience members can admire the finer detail of his work up close. There will even be a guest appearance by Tuscanini the elephant!
Tickets are £12 for all ages, and space is limited so book now to avoid disappointment! This event will have a limited number of seats to maximise space for performing. Audience members are invited to sit on picnic blankets and soak up the atmosphere in an indoor festival setting. If you require a chair please request one at time of booking.
Newcastle Castle is a historical building and conservation laws dictate that it cannot be altered to improve accessibility. Access is via steps only for this event.
