Internationally bestselling author, Jung Chang returns to Durham to talk about Big Sister, Little Sister, Red Sister, a major new biography of three extraordinary women who helped shape the course of modern Chinese history.

Jung Chang revisits the best-known modern Chinese fairy tale: the story of the three Soong sisters, who for most of the twentieth century were at the centre of power in China. It was sometimes said that ‘One loved money, one loved power and one loved her country’. This story of love, war, exile and intrigue explores how the sisters were far more than these caricatures.

Jung Chang is the author of the widely acclaimed Wild SwansMao: The Unknown Story (with Jon Halliday) and Empress Dowager Cixi. Her books have been translated into over forty languages and sold more than fifteen million copies outside mainland China, where they are banned.
