“Don’t you know it’s dangerous to play with fire?”
Midsummer Night in an old manor house in the North East. For one night only servants and masters are equal, and drink and dance together into the small hours. With the Lord away, his daughter, Miss Julie, strays into the servant’s quarters in search of the Head Butler, Jean. As the two play with fire, their mutual attraction drives them together with fatal consequences…
August Strindberg’s electrifying play of sex and class comes to passionate life on the Gala stage in a powerful new production by Elysium Theatre Company.
Elysium TC is a new, Durham-based theatre company dedicated to bringing theatre to the North East. Previous productions include Days Of Wine And Roses (Assembly Rooms, Durham & 53two, Manchester), Jesus Hopped The A Train (Assembly Rooms, Durham & HOME, Manchester), Two By Beckett (Assembly Rooms, Durham) and The River (City Theatre, Durham & Queen’s Hall, Hexham).
