This year look out for exhilarating aerial performance “Sirin (Hope is the Thing with Feathers)” by Newton’s Ladder on 25thAugust; and electrifying fusion of dance and circus ‘Block’ by Motionhouse in collaboration with NoFit State Circus on 26thAugust.

Newcastle Mela returns to Exhibition Park on 25th and 26th August with a riot of colour, music, dancing and a whole host of things to do and see that will entertain visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

This annual South Asian arts festival takes place annually and is based around Pakistani, Bengali, Indian and other South Asian cultures – everyone is welcome to this free, fun and family-friendly event.

This vibrant, multi-cultural two-day festival sees crowds of thousands filling the park to enjoy live music performances from contemporary and traditional Asian acts, art performances, an incredible range of food, craft stalls, clothing, jewellery and free activities, like face painting and henna tattoos, a British Cycling track and British Army assault course.

Look out for Newcastle Mela in the City 10 August, Blackett Street, Newcastle 12pm – 4pm, free event
