After their success bringing Handel’s Acis to the Tyne Theatre in 2018, Newcastle’s International Centre for Music Studies is back with Henry’s Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas.
The first great English opera, Purcell’s short but intense story of tragic love will be fully-staged with Baroque dance and costumes, performed by Newcastle University music students.
Staged and conducted by international operatic countertenor Lawrence Zazzo, set designs and costumes by artist Eva Masterman, and Baroque dance and gesture by Dionysios Kryopoulos.
