Explore the park and hear stories from our guide about a young knight named Pollard, who rose to the challenge of slaying the huge ferocious boar terrorising land around the castle and town. Chasing the Bishop of Durham’s unspecified reward, discover how Pollard’s quick thinking almost led to him taking ownership of the Castle but instead, he acquired the land around town which became known as Pollard’s lands.
