Is democracy dead in the digital age?
With many people now wise to fake news and propaganda spread via platforms like Facebook, what tactics will candidates in the 2020 US Presidential election employ? Will we see a fairer race to The White House or is more drastic action needed to save democracy?

And will the introduction of e-voting – trialled in May 2019 in local elections in Gateshead – create new avenues for manipulating election results?

This event is part of the Science Speakeasy programme – a series in which important and often controversial topics are debated in a relaxed cabaret-style setting, all while sipping cocktails mixed by The Alchemist.* No question or statement is taboo, so these events are not suitable for anyone who is easily offended!
