This is a special monthly event on a Sunday morning for people with autism and other sensory needs.

Join us for our monthly Sensory-friendly Sundays, dedicated quiet hours for people with autism and other sensory needs to enjoy the science centre.

Visitors can explore all the exhibitions in the science centre and enjoy a relaxed performance in the North’s biggest planetarium.  Lighting and sound levels will be altered to accommodate those with sensory needs.
Our autism-friendly hours are 9.30am – 11.00am. You are welcome to stay until we close at 6.00pm if you wish but please note that our normal programme, lighting and sound levels will resume from 11.00am.
Ear defenders for both adults and children are available to hire for a £10.00 refundable deposit (subject to availability). Hand dryers in all areas of the centre will be turned off for the duration of the session.
