Formed in 1910 as the Craghead Colliery Band the Ever Ready battery company took over when the pit closed in 1969 and the band become internationally recognised, with concerts the length and breadth of the country and radio and television appearances. Recently supported by Reg Vardy the band recently qualified for the 2019 National Finals for a remarkable 50th time since 1963 and look forward to representing the Northern Region in the Royal Albert Hall later this year. Being consistently listed in the top 20 of the World Brass Band Rankings they are also renowned for giving high quality concerts.
