Teesdale Viewmarkers

Working with the Heart of Teesdale Landscape Partnership with additional funding from Arts Council England, ARTworks in Teesdale is delivering another innovative landscape based arts project. Teesdale has no shortage of stunning views and dramatic vistas. This project, Teesdale Viewmarkers aims to “mark”; enhance, inform or interpret 12 iconic views within the Heart of Teesdale area.

Though still relatively unknown and unvisited, Teesdale has inspired artists throughout history; poets, artists, photographers have all been moved to create by the dale. Turner, Cotman, Scott and Dickens have found the landscape inspirational, as have many less well known but dedicated artists.

ARTworks in Teesdale has challenged a new generation to respond creatively to this beautiful, rugged land.
