Jesterval returns this summer as part of Q Festival!

Posted on March 15th 2017 by Whats on Northeast

Jesterval, The North East’s Premier Comedy Festival, will return this summer bigger and better than ever as part of Q Festival, in an exciting collaboration with Gateshead Council.

Q Festival is set to be a vibrant three-week event running between July and August, which shows off a huge range of circus skills, immersive cinema, music, burlesque, family events and, of course, comedy suitable for the whole family. There’s also set to be children’s workshops taking place to keep the kids entertained over the summer holidays.

It’ll all be situated in Baltic Square within a stunning Spiegeltent, a marquee that traces its origins to Belgium in the early 20th Century, which are known for their beautiful oak floors and ability to bring people together. It’s expected that over the 24 days, up to 15,000 people will enjoy a diverse cultural programme both throughout the daytime, as well as on the evening.

As part of the festivities, this year Jesterval will be putting on over 40 shows throughout the three week period, featuring both huge nationally-renowned names from the comedy circuit as well as home-grown local talent. Some of the first big names announced include Ed Byrne, Mitch Benn, Paul Foot, and Sara Pascoe. Local laughs come in the form of Dave Johns, Gavin Webster, Zoe Lyons, Matt Reed.

With a whole host of names yet to be announced, this year’s Jesterval is already shaping up to be a rib-tickling, belly-laugh inducing extravaganza!

Jesterval takes place as part of Q Festival at Baltic Square, Gateshead between Friday 14th July until Sunday 6th August 2016. Tickets for individual Jesterval events are on sale now. More information can be found on the Jesterval website.
