REVIEW: Darlington Hippodrome Virtual Quiz Nights

Following the Government guidelines of staying indoors during this global pandemic, many venues around the North East are trying to stop boredom from hitting by providing fun and exciting things to do from home. One of these venues which I think has been a great success is Darlington Hippodrome, who has been bringing its social media followers a virtual Quiz Night every Friday!

The Quiz usually starts around 7:30pm on Fridays and is streamed on Facebook live by the wonderful Julian who works at Darlington Hippodrome. Being a virtual quiz, there is no prize to be won, but what a great way to spend a Friday night with the family, playing against each other! Many people from home may decide on having their own prize for the winner within their house hold, or, for the loser, what my household decided was that the loser had to pay for the takeaway that night!

It was a fun night and all that was needed was a paper and pen and, of course, a streaming device. There was 7 rounds, the quiz lasted around an hour and a half. Last week’s rounds consisted of 1980’s films, West End or Broadway (and either or question, however I thought this question fitted in well with a ‘theatre’ quiz), Quotes (which this time focussed on Shakespeare plays), Animals, Who Said That? (more famous quotes from more icons we know), Film Actors and finally Famous Allen’s. If none of these rounds tickle your fancy, don’t worry because the rounds change every week so there’s something for everyone.

The quiz was not easy at all, but it was great fun and boredom was banished as the household all went into competitive mode! Julian provided a very friendly but professional quiz which made it better! The Facebook Live stream was of good quality, there was a few buffs but this is something that can’t be helped and fixes itself within a few seconds! The quiz can be accessed easily, just by following the Darlington Hippodrome Facebook page. I would defiantly recommend. Grab a drink, grab some snacks, grab the family and join the quiz on Friday nights, I’ll see you there!
