: Ripon Theatre Festival is set to take place 23-26 June with more than 40 professional and community performances. The Festival will stage events and activities for all ages, both indoors and outside, much of them for free. The programme includes puppetry, drama, storytelling and family shows. Festival Saturday will see street theatre, music, circus and dance in three dedicated performance zones, plus walkabout acts throughout the city and a puppet-led Trail Game. Sunday events include pop-up dance theatre in two café locations, comic lunch-time theatre and the culmination of a Jubilee-themed living history project at the Ripon Workhouse Museum. Drama highlights include a visit from radical theatre company Red Ladder and open-air theatre specialists Illyria with Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Fountains Abbey. Families will be spoilt for choice. Hoglets Theatre and Story Craft take over Ripon Library for an afternoon each and internationally respected Lempen Puppet Theatre take part in a day of shows and workshops. Badapple Theatre and Strange Twig present shows in Ripon Spa Gardens alongside Punch and Judy and an interactive Musical Bear Hunt for young children.
